Job Summary

Kforce is seeking a Senior Property Accountant in New York City, NY. This role involves providing accounting support for non-recurring transactions, reviewing and analyzing general ledgers, processing journal entries, calculating accruals, and updating balance sheet schedules. The accountant will also prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, perform variance and balance sheet analysis, and handle year-end reconciliations and tenant billings. Key responsibilities include preparing accounting assessments of tenant leases, monitoring cash activity, and coordinating debt service payments.

Must Have

  • Provide accounting support for non-recurring transactions related to assigned properties.
  • Review and analyze general ledgers, process journal entries, calculate monthly accruals, and update supporting balance sheet account schedules.
  • Review and approve A/P voucher, payroll data entries, A/R adjustments, daily cash receipts journal, and rent rolls.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
  • Review and prepare necessary workpaper reconciliations to balance sheet and income statement.
  • Prepare income statement variance analysis and balance sheet analysis.
  • Prepare year-end expense reconciliations and tenant billings.
  • Prepare accounting assessments of tenant leases.
  • Monitor daily cash activity, bank reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Coordinate debt service payments, including lender reserves, and supporting compliance reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 3+ years of public accounting and/or commercial real estate accounting experience.
  • Experience in Yardi and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP (specifically, real estate).
  • Understanding of property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting, and forecasting.

Kforce has a client that is seeking to hire a Senior Property Accountant in New York City, New York (NY). Responsibilities Include:

  • The Senior Property Accountant will be coordinating debt service payments, including lender reserves, and supporting compliance reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA certification preferred
  • 3+ years of public accounting and/or commercial real estate accounting experience
  • Experience in Yardi and a proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of US GAAP (specifically, real estate)
  • Understanding of property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Well-organized, self-starter, and able to handle multiple priorities

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
